The following article was published in the Florida Catholic of Palm Beach – Week of August 14 thru August 27, 2009
The Very Rev. Canon Thomas Skindeleski, pastor of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Delray Beach, Florida State Council Treasurer Paul Koppie and Brother Knights traveled for a nine-day mission trip in July to remote areas of Guatemala.
The annual trip is organized by Monsignor Skindeleski, who is also the Florida State Council Vocations Director, and supports the Guatemalan Tomorrow Foundation. The trip is an annual outreach and included construction and repairs at a school in Ak’Tenamit serving the very poor; Mass celebrations and rosary recitations; and a visit to the historic Church and Shrine of St. Hermano Pedro, Guatemala’s patron.
Mission participants this year included Florida State Council Treasurer Paul Koppie (2nd consecutive year); Robert Herrnreiter; Guy Mueller; Phillip Salois; Joseph Zupo; Robert Laquerre and his son, Timothy; and Ricardo Marino and his son, Ricardo Jr.
Editor’s note: In order to participate in the Mission, you must be a Knight of Columbus. We are very proud of all our Brother Knights who participated in this annual trip and we are especially proud of Msgr. Tom and his untiring efforts in this cause.
